A lovely start to lunchtime circuits - and two Boxercise spaces
Class trial updates—and what would you like to try next?
What’s next for the timetable? Have your say
Thank you to everyone who joined our Boxercise and Tuesday lunchtime Circuits trials. Trying new classes is a useful way to find out what works for our community—not just which activities appeal, but which times you can attend and which formats you enjoy enough to return to regularly.
The two trials have had different outcomes, and both have helped me decide what to do next.
Boxercise won’t be continuing, as numbers have been too low over the past couple of weeks to keep the class running.
Although many of you enjoyed it, the feedback was that there was perhaps too much technique to take on in the first sessions, and quite a few people found it too hard on their joints. That’s useful feedback as I consider other options for the Thursday evening slot.
Thank you to Elle for teaching the sessions, and to everyone who came along and shared their experience.
Tuesday lunchtime Circuits has been a success! I’ve extended the 12 noon session by another week to take us up to half-term, and I’ll be bringing it back in the second half of term.
This class has a greater focus on strength. Combining the bikes and rowers with our playground activities has freed up a station for dedicated leg strengthening, leaving more room at stations 2 and 4 for upper-body work.
The aim is to give you more time working with resistance while keeping the variety and choice that people enjoy about Circuits. There’s still a cardio element, with options to suit how hard you want to work on the day. Thank you for supporting the new lunchtime slot and giving the format a go.
As we head towards Christmas, I’ll be experimenting further with the timetable. I’m particularly interested in inviting guest instructors to teach on Thursdays at 6:30pm, and I’d love your help choosing what to try.
What would make you want to come along on a Thursday evening? It could be a particular dance style, a different approach to strength training, something slower and more focused on mobility, or an activity we haven’t tried before.
Please be as specific as possible. “Dance” gives me a starting point, but naming the style you’d enjoy gives me something much more useful to explore. Likewise, if you’d like a strength class, tell me what you’d want from it: more time learning technique, a particular type of equipment, or a different pace.
It would help to know:
What type of class would you like to try?
What would you enjoy about it, and what would make it suitable for you?
Could you realistically attend on Thursdays at 6:30pm?
Is there a guest instructor you’d recommend?
Suggestions for other timetable slots are welcome too. I can’t promise to offer every idea, but your answers will help me find classes and instructors that suit our community.
Send me your suggestions by email—or, if you’ve arrived here from the newsletter, simply hit reply to that email.
